MUSIC FOR CHRISTMAS MASSED CHOIR 2019
Our Christmas Concert is a special event every year, when we have the opportunity to make a difference in our wider community. Our concerts during the year help to provide income for the professionals who make Everybody Sings the unique organisation it is, but for our final concert of the year, everybody provides their services free of charge and all the profits (that is, all concert takings after venue and equipment hire are paid) is donated to the Auckland City Mission.
Last year, we raised over $13,000 through the concert and our Christmas busking.
This year, we have more singers than ever and we’d love to exceed that total. We have booked the Dorothy Winstone Theatre, at Auckland Girls’ Grammar again, and would love to sell every one of those 800 seats.
The concert is on Saturday 14 December, early evening (4.30pm TBC), so please start talking to your friends and families now about putting it into their diaries.
It’s always a wonderful concert - the massed choir sounds better every year, and if our two big concerts this year are anything to go by, this next concert will be extraordinary. And every component choir is invited to sing at least one song on their own. So the variety for which we’re a little bit famous is even more evident in this last concert of the year.
The theme this year is “light” - light in its literal sense, but also some of the lighter music of the season, to add to the great traditional songs we’ve learned in previous years.
This is why we’ve started a little early this year - we have some new music to learn, and some of it is a little more challenging. But we hope you’ll find it fun and enjoyable! (The list below is not yet complete - your Choir Leader will let you know when there’s something new to download and print).
