Project Choir
This is an exciting new development for 2026! It is something that has been running informally for a while now – in response to some requests that came in, we put together a small group in various configurations. Sometimes this was just choir leaders plus colleagues and friends. But now, as part of our plans to offer different types of choir experience alongside our main choirs, we want to expand Project Choir next into a pool of singers that we can call on for various projects. These will mostly be community service events that can’t accommodate our usual big group of singers. So we need singers who can learn the music independently and perform with minimal rehearsal, and are robust enough to be flexible in some unexpected situations! It’s fun, but it’s also challenging and is best suited to confident and experienced singers.
We've had some interesting experiences to date - including long periods of standing, singing in noisy environments, guests "joining in", guests taking selfies with us in the middle of songs, guests talking loudly over the top of our singing....but also some lovely moments of singing in some special places and for some special occasions. So this calls for singers who are willing to show up with good grace, looking smart, and "do the job" under whatever circumstances we find. Not for the faint-hearted!
The line-up for every event is likely to be different, according to the requirements of that event. So even if you are on the list, you might or might not be called on, Some events will involve extra rehearsals, and you will be asked to indicate your availability for those at the time you are invited to join the group for that particular outing. Bear in mind that we sometimes mix the ensemble up once we hear it together at the first rehearsal - you might be asked to sing a different part from the one you usually sing, if that's what works with the group we have.
If you would like to be considered for the Project Choir, please fill in the form below. We'll be in touch when we are putting together groups for specific events.
