New in 2024: Fun-damentals!
Our aim is always to make choral singing as accessible to as many people as we can. We realised recently that there are people who join one of our choirs, with high hopes and the best of intentions....and feel a little overwhelmed. After listening to feedback from some of these people, we came to understand that an extra step is needed for some people: a choir where you can start from the very beginning (a very good place to start...apparently!).
This year, we are opening our new Fun-damentals group. This is a low-pressure group for those who think they can't sing, anyone who wants to come along and sing each week with no pressure, and those who want to learn more about all aspecrts of singing in a choir.
We have the amazing Claire Caldwell to lead this group with Kate. Claire is a top-level singing teacher who has coached students to international careers (read her bio in Our People), but has a passion for working with beginners and people who consider themselves non-singers.
There will be opportunities for this group to join our other choirs for massed events, but there will be no pressure to do so. As a Fun-damentals member, you can choose to join the massed choir for the songs you know, but if you want to attend rehearsals without performing, that's also fine.
You will be able to choose to transfer to one of our other choirs at some point in the future, when you're ready, but if you want to continue to sing in this environment, you are welcome to do that for as long as you wish.
